As Anti-Bullying Week takes centre stage across Liverpool from the 13th to the 17th of November, the city is gearing up to empower its young population and create a positive environment for growth and development. With the theme of #MakeANoise about bullying, this year’s campaign is a resounding call to action for individuals, communities, and organizations to come together and support the youth in achieving their full potential.
Empowering Through Awareness:
The first step in combating bullying is raising awareness, and Positive Futures is embracing this through various initiatives aimed at educating young people about the impact of bullying. They are conducting workshops and awareness campaigns on social media to foster a culture of respect and understanding. By equipping young individuals with the knowledge to identify, report, and prevent bullying, Positive Futures is laying the foundation for a safer and more supportive environment.
Amplifying Voices:
#MakeANoise serves as a powerful reminder that everyone has a role to play in eradicating bullying. Positive Futures is encouraging its youth to speak up against bullying and make their voices heard. Through artwork, discussions, and social media campaigns, the charity is providing platforms for young people to share their stories, express their concerns, and contribute to the collective effort of building a bully-free society.
Support Networks:
To ensure that young people feel supported and empowered, Positive Futures is strengthening its support networks. The drop-in activity sessions will include anti-bullying programmes that focus on fostering empathy, resilience, and interpersonal skills. Additionally, the targeted support service, which sees young people supported on a 1-2-1 basis are offering counseling services and safe spaces where individuals can discuss their experiences and seek guidance. By creating a robust support system, Positive Futures aims to nurture the mental and emotional well-being of its youth.
Role of Technology:
In an age where technology plays a significant role in the lives of young people, Positive Futures is leveraging digital platforms to spread awareness and encourage positive behaviour. Social media campaigns, and educational videos are being used to reach a broader audience and create a digital community committed to combating bullying. By harnessing the power of technology, the charity is ensuring that the anti-bullying message resonates with young people in the spaces where they spend much of their time.
Community Engagement:
Positive Futures understands that tackling bullying requires a collective effort from the entire family. Parents are joining hands to create a united front against bullying by attending the free Kidscape Live Q&A on Instagram at 7pm on Tuesday 14th November. By involving parents, the charity is reinforcing the message that everyone has a role to play in creating a safe and inclusive environment for young people to thrive.
As Positive Futures rallies together during Anti-Bullying Week, Clare Corran, CEO of Positive Futures says the charity is sending a clear message:
The collective effort during this week and beyond is a testament to the charityโs dedication to fostering a positive and nurturing environment for its youth.
