Case Study | Rebuilding Confidence and Connection Through Targeted Support

A young person was referred to us after experiencing a prolonged period of non-attendance at school, with an attendance rate of 0%. Despite facing significant challenges—including bullying in both school and the community—they showed resilience and a desire to re-engage with education and social life.

Recognising the young person’s potential and readiness for change, our Targeted Support Worker provided 19 personalised 1-to-1 sessions focused on building emotional strength, confidence, and connection. These sessions included:

Outcomes and Growth

The young person demonstrated remarkable progress:

Impact on Wellbeing and Relationships

The young person’s emotional wellbeing improved significantly. They reconnected with peers, began socialising more frequently, and invited friends into their home—marking a powerful shift from isolation to connection.

Their parent shared:

“She’s happier in herself, calmer, and has fewer emotional outbursts. Her confidence has grown so much.”

The young person expressed:

“You’ve really helped me with going back to school and with my mental health. You’ve always been there, and been someone I could talk to. I’m so grateful for these couple of months and I really appreciate you for understanding me when I felt misunderstood. Thank you.”
