Working in partnership; ADHD Foundation and Positive Futures

ADHD foundation work

The ADHD Foundation has been working in partnership with Positive Futures through National Lottery Grant Funding to provide support for young people and their families around understanding and supporting Neurodiversity. The project provides access to support is by referral, mainly for young people and families that are already accessing support through Positive Futures but can be through other avenues as the project is for Liverpool families. Rachel and Layla from the ADHD Foundation work at Positive Futures with young people and parents/carers to offer support. Together they work 2 days per week providing therapeutic one to one support and 3 days per week providing SENCO support.

Clare Corran, CEO at Positive Futures said; “The benefits of Rachel and Layla from the ADHD Foundation being onsite here at Positive Futures, are fantastic for our young people and families. Young people are able to talk to the experts about a recent diagnosis,  or challenges they are having at school perhaps; they can even request counselling from Layla. In addition, families are able to talk to Rachel about the best way to support one another and learn strategies.   Over the summer we have a ‘drop in’ so that young people can “ask the expert”.  So alongside targeted 1-2-1 support, fun activities, and even pre diagnostic screening around dyslexia and dyscalculia, the package available to the young people is comprehensive and special.”

“I can honestly say that I wish they were here full time and thanks to the team at the ADHD Foundation for supporting this initiative “

Rachel Varney, SENCO/Neurodiversity Trainer at the ADHD Foundation who delivers the sessions at Positive Futures said; “Fantastic, it’s amazing the work we have accomplished with an incredible partnership. The work Positive Futures does is so inspiring and we are proud to be a part of it” Rachel
