The Positive Futures Detached Team make it their mission to get to know young people in their familiar surroundings. The team go out on the streets in the local community – but not just the streets in local parks, in local youth settings… in fact anywhere that young people like to go out and about. In the past year alone our street team have walked 2,304 miles during 1,728 hours or 288 sessions, spending that time getting to know young people and engaging with them in some way.
Often the young people we meet during our Detached work will end up engaging in many other activities and programmes with us. That initial chat in the park or on a street corner, can be life-changing for some young people and has led to many success stories. Our dedicated Detached Team reach parts of the community that are not accessible by other channels of communication.
To help reach even more young people we are working closely with our community partner organisations in North Liverpool. With the introduction of the Voluntary Outreach Support Service (VOSS) this year, our aim is to work in collaboration to deliver more support for the young people in the local community. In fact, thanks to our partnership work last year we led on delivering 2,880 hours of Detached Team engagement, meeting with 3,000 young people and offering 1,152 hours of group sessions.
