About this service

What is Mentoring?

Sometimes we all need extra support and someone to talk to.

Positive Futures provides tailored mentoring and targeted intervention services for young people who may be experiencing challenges at home, in education, or within their wider community. Our team works alongside young people to build trusted relationships, improve wellbeing, and help them achieve their goals.

Every young person’s journey is different, which is why our support is personalised to their individual needs and circumstances.

How We Support Young People

One-to-One Mentoring

Working directly with young people to build confidence, resilience, emotional wellbeing, and positive decision-making skills.

Family Support

Supporting families to address challenges together and strengthen relationships within the home environment.

Targeted Intervention

Providing specialist support for young people facing complex challenges, helping them overcome barriers and access positive opportunities.

Areas We Can Help With

Our mentoring team regularly supports young people and families with:

  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Family relationships
  • School attendance and engagement
  • Behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Community safety concerns
  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • Accessing wider support services
  • Personal development and goal setting

Family Support

In addition to 1-2-1 sessions, dozens of meetings are also attended with / and on behalf of families including EHAT’s, CINS, TAF’s, CPC’s etc.

Referrals to the FSS are only accepted via the Positive Futures Team, i.e., we are working with the young person and it becomes apparent the family need support. The collaborative approach of the FSS engages parents/carers as experts of their own children; being those closest and most trusted. Our aim is to provide support to families on a wide variety of issues. We work closely with schools, local authority services, youth organisations and a variety of agencies to intercept and & facilitate change before risk factors increase.

Some of the challenges families approach us with include:

  • Communication difficulties
  • Relationship breakdown
  • Housing concerns
  • Education support
  • School exclusion
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Financial advice and guidance
  • Anxiety and stress

I like all the different activities that we get to do. They're really fun. I was learning lots of things that I didn't know before and also making new friends.
